A great game with some wonderful play.
As is the way of these things and completely against the run of play, it wasn’t long before the boys found themselves a goal down. Welton did have a number of excellent young players but they didn’t possess the slick magnificence of the Bakerees who fizzed and whizzed the ball across the wet surface with a confidence and assurance that belies their young age. That confidence is built on the rock-solid foundation of an excellent defence and with Jack patrolling between the sticks, Eli, Isaac and Ralph developing a telepathic understanding, the ever-increasing confidence is well founded. A truly superb performance from our Captain, Arthur saw him bury an equalizer and his interplay with the superb Ollie was a joy to behold. Freddie can play anywhere and his calmness and composure in possession are a credit to the hard work he has done to improve his game.
It was left to top-scorer Hugo to have the final say and he did so with the aplomb and panache we have come to expect.
Difficult to pick a man-of-the-match but for leading by example with a terrific performance it goes to the Captain, Arthur Brader.
